The Ashui Awards is an annual prize honouring contributions to Vietnam's architecture and construction industry. In 2023, IDA Lighting partnered with the event, bringing light to the awards ceremony at Vinh Citadel.
Light for a heritage site
The Ashui Awards 2023 ceremony and exhibition were held at the Ashui Pavilion — within the grounds of Vinh Citadel, Nghệ An. With an ancient structure, lighting is not for show but to restore the very solemnity of the citadel walls, the arched gate and the water.
A stage floating on the water
The ceremony space was set on the water, with the citadel wall as its backdrop. Light led the audience's eye from the stands to the stage, keeping the ancient architecture as the main character while the light quietly served as background.
For a heritage site, the finest light is light that knows to step back — letting the ancient architecture speak for itself.
Alongside the professional community
Being at the Ashui Awards 2023 was a chance for IDA to meet the community of architects, contractors and developers nationwide — and to affirm its position as a studio specialising in architectural lighting.
