DESIGN · REVIEW · SELECTIONDesign lighting integrated with automation systems, and assess and advise on equipment proposed or selected by the client. Where the client has not yet been able, or is unable, to make a selection, IDA is responsible for selecting suitable equipment on the client’s behalf within the agreed scope.
Clients seeking lighting design together with expert assessment, selection advice or representation in selecting equipment against the design requirements and budget.
Include the research, concept, lighting layers, layouts, integration details and scene principles described under Premium within the agreed project scope.
Define how lighting works with the home automation system: switching, dimming, schedules, presence sensing and daylight response. Functions are selected to suit the homeowner’s needs and the capabilities of the system.
Design states for arriving home, hosting, dining, relaxation, night-time movement and absence; define control zones, triggers and manual operation. Coordinate requirements with electrical and automation specialists to preserve the lighting intent.
Translate design intent into criteria for light distribution, beam angle, glare, colour appearance, material colour rendering and control requirements.
Compare technical documentation, photometric data and installation conditions with the design requirements. Identify suitability, gaps and missing information.
Compare function, lighting quality, integration, budget and maintenance considerations on a consistent basis; explain the design implications of changes.
Where the client has not yet been able, or is unable, to make a selection, IDA is responsible for assessing the options and selecting suitable equipment on the client’s behalf within the agreed scope.
Document selection rationale, accepted differences and related design revisions to maintain alignment between the design and the selected solution.
Agree the concept and technical requirements.
Compare options using consistent criteria.
Advise or select on the client’s behalf.
Update decision rationale and related documents.
Design scope, deliverables, revision rounds and working sessions are defined in the service proposal. For Signature, the scope of selection on the client’s behalf is agreed with the client against the design requirements and budget.
The representation scope establishes lighting objectives, budget and required conditions. IDA records the selection rationale rather than only recommending product names.
Where the evidence is insufficient, IDA identifies the additional information or testing needed. Sample reviews, measurements and site sessions are agreed in the service proposal.
This scope covers integration design and coordination. Installation, wiring, programming and system configuration are carried out by the implementation specialists unless separately agreed. Automation functions are confirmed against the selected system solution.
